Topsoil, as the name suggests, is your topmost layer of soil. It is made up of organic matter, minerals, and water. Mulch is a layer of material that is spread on top of the topsoil. Topsoil and mulch can provide a number of benefits for your plants. There are a number of different types of topsoil and mulch available, each with its own unique benefits. These are some of the most common types of topsoil:

Garden topsoil: This type of topsoil is ideal for use in gardens. It is high in organic matter and nutrients, and it helps to improve drainage and water retention. 

Landscape topsoil: This type of topsoil is ideal for use in landscaping projects. It is less expensive than garden topsoil, but its nutrient content isn't as high.

Playground topsoil: This type of topsoil is specifically designed for use in playgrounds. It is free of harmful pathogens and it's resistant to compaction.
